Sometimes a book floors me.
A few times over the last few years, I've picked up a book at the library, and in reading it, was changed. I'm not talking about a book that I'd searched for specifically. Rather, I mean books that caught my eye when I was browsing randomly.
After finishing such a book, I was compelled to do something I don't normally consider. Write an email to the author and personally thank them. I'm not the kind of person who thrives on social media, stays in tight communication with friends and family over the phone, or even does something as simple as subscribing to a YouTube channel. No matter, I felt a duty to let the author know that their book changed a life.
So, the next time a book changes your life, why not give it a try? Most authors have their email or website on the inside cover of the book. Each time I've done so, I've gotten a grateful reply. My words that I sent forth did not return to me empty.
