Explorations in Clayland Part 5: Little Guys

Little figures: lacking in detail, bursting with charm.

Starting out, I have what must be the remains of a miniature set of chess figures.  Six out of the eight pawns remain, five if you exclude the headless one.  The king, queen, horses, and knights are mostly intact.  The bishops are absent.

A closer look at representative pieces.

What is chess without an opposing side?  Here they are, imagined as goblin-like creatures.  All eight pawns are reporting for battle.  Both 'horses' are to the right and both 'knights' are to the left.  The central figures remain unclear.  They could be the queen and king equivalent, or one of them could also be a bishop equivalent.

More detail.

Moving away from chess, we have another group of little figures.  I call them smoosh warriors because their legs are squashed into the bases they rest upon.  Unlike the chess pieces, they have no faces.

More details.  Archer.  Axman.  Spearman.  Knight.

Finishing up, there is an assortment of other small figures.  Orange gunman.  Ogre in purple suspenders and a blocky ax.  A hero (from two perspectives) with a sword and shield.  Two katana wielders (from two perspectives), one sadly missing his trusty blade.  A purple wizard is upset that his magic staff is broken.  His smiling spearman guard has no such negativity.

Bonus: Really Little Guys.

These diminutive dabs of clay are no more than tiny heads with eyes and mouth.  Spikes and horns add some flair.
