Explorations in Clayland Part 11: Driving Out Snakes!

Snakes aren't a fan of St. Patrick's Day...

But lucky for you, I am a fan.  We were stepping our way through the fantastic fungus forms of the mushroom folk and had almost made it to the end.  But, giving the impending celebration of all things Irish, I thought I'd take a brief pause to include the creatures St. Patrick famously drove out (as the legend goes).  Here are a variety of snake clay figures.

First, a terrifying Frostgulch Wurn.  Ravaging the cold tundra, you're not safe when the snow starts to rumble.

Next, a Longspan Snow Wurm, another cold climate hunter.

Yet another cold weather slitherer, this one is much smaller.  Coated with frost and sporting two icicle-like fangs, this Cryo Slow Worm is only a threat to the novice adventurer.

Back in more temperate regions, here come two more snakes that represent a break from danger, as long as you have your wits about you.  First, a Common Violet Spitter.  Second, an Acid Asp.

Whoah, we're back into peril, a Double-Ended Devil Snake is rearing up!  Get your holy water ready.

We can't seem to catch a break.  Now a Titanic Vine Viper readies itself to strike.  While not venomous, it's cryptic coloring and powerful bite are nothing to scoff at.

Well, you don't see this every day.  A rare, Clattering Ground Wurm has emerged from its burrow.  I managed to get it from two angles.

Another startling scene.  A Grass-shield Mamba is looking rather hungry.

Now, what serpentine safari would be complete without a Greater Scaled Basilisk?  Keep away from the eyes if you please.  I don't want to have to lug your statue around.

Jormungandr, one of Loki's monstrous children and herald of Ragnarök.  He's dropped his tail, so things are about to get dicey.

Whew, it's not every day that you survive Norse Armageddon.  These next few snakes certainly didn't.  First, we have a Shadeform Viper, a phantom with paralysis powers.  Next, a Bone Seraph, which is not a true skeletal snake but rather an undead artifice using bones of various creatures to create a serpentine semblance.

Finishing our tour of legless exiles, we have another artifact snake.  This Barbwire Snake sustained serious damage to the back half of its body.  Its tail is nowhere to be found, least of all the Emerald Isle.

Sssssssssssssee you next time.
