Adventures in Sketchtopia Part 15: Cards in Action

Drawing out a card's effect?

During high school, I worked on a combination board/card game.  I made clay figures that moved around the board and had attributes based on cards.

Nestled in my stack of drawings, I found something interesting.  Not the cards themselves (found elsewhere).  Rather, they were action scenes with the effects of the cards shown.

Page 1: Ascension arrow deals a set amount of damage from a variable difference.  The more paid for the card, the higher the range.

Page 2:  An overzealous mage casts 21 Engaging Fireballs at an unnamed monstrosity.

Page 3:  One character, the Defender of Earth, fights against a Scuttling Errant that is casting a Decay Spell and a raging Demon Chimera.  He's aided with a Height Advantage and Lycanthrope Morph.  What's more, Gigafy Weapon has been cast on his gun and a Petrified Projectile has been summoned from the skies above.

Page 4:  A cloaked necromancer casts Necro-Fireball upon a group of Goblin Spearman.  A group of soldiers form a Shield-Wall Porcupine Formation to increase their collective attack and defense against a lone warrior in Dragon Armor.  A strange elemental called a Hirosh summons Discharge while being protected with Invulnerability

Page 5:  Our Defender of Earth is back battling an Emaciated Reaver and Dire Mercenary.  He's boosted by an Iron Will while he augments his gunfire with Blaze of Glory and Incapacitate.  His foes are not standing by idly.  The mercenary distorts the air in from of him with Mirishma and adds more arms and legs to the fight through Extension Mutation.  The Reaver gets above the bullet storm with Wall Walking and attempts to hit with Extended Reach or Claw Knives.
